Why More Than Theatre

Three things you won’t find in any other school theatre company

Film and live theatre

Original projections that interact with the actors on stage. It isn’t theatre with video: it’s a category of its own.

Values in every play

Empathy, nature, prejudice, anxiety. One clear value per production, easy to justify to school leaders and families.

Classroom materials and songs

Adapted grammar and free MP3s before the show. Your students will sing along with the actors.

«The school is just buzzing at the moment. Every sector of the school loved it — it was perfectly pitched for all three year levels — and we are really hoping to see More Than Theatre again next year.»
English teacher · International School of Navarra (ISN)
«Demuestra valores, se ve mucho trabajo artístico detrás y un mensaje que creemos que es lo más importante. Los alumnos se lo han pasado muy bien y ¡queremos que volváis!»

Translation: “It shows real values, you can see a lot of artistic work behind it, and a message that we believe is the most important thing. The students had a great time and we want you to come back!”

English teacher · GSD Las Artes, Madrid
«¡Maravillosa! Desde el planteamiento, la interacción con el alumnado, el inglés muy, muy ajustado al nivel de los chicos. La verdad es que me ha parecido una maravilla.»

Translation: “Wonderful! From the concept to the interaction with the students, and the English pitched very, very precisely to their level. I honestly thought it was marvellous.”

The company

Professional theatre born from first-hand experience

More Than Theatre is a professional company founded by Carolina Meijer, an actress, playwright and acting coach with more than 20 years’ experience in foreign-language educational theatre across Europe. Trained in physical theatre, musical theatre, dance and screen acting in Barcelona, the Canary Islands, New York and Madrid, and after years touring European stages as an actress, Carolina knew what she wanted to say and how.

Today, More Than Theatre has its own recognisable style. The company writes and directs its own shows, true to a way of understanding theatre in which values, humour and real theatre take centre stage. We create stories on current themes that connect with students, resonate and get them talking, committed to a genuine theatre experience that goes beyond mere entertainment or humour without substance.

To this theatrical language we add projections and audiovisual elements that bring rhythm and energy to the staging, embracing new times and the needs of a young audience, without ever losing the essence of live theatre.

That’s why our plays are reviewed and rewritten every year, bringing in new perspectives, references and themes so they stay connected to our students’ reality and always up to date.

Teaching comes first

Every play is created with its own teaching guide, values to share and grammar adapted to each stage.
